Worth the wait..

Yesterday, when Kolkata Knight Riders lifted the cup of the DLF IPL, I started shedding tears of joy! And there was only one thing in my mind - It was worth the wait..

I was a die-heart supporter of the Kolkata Knight Riders from the first edition of the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders hadn't performed up to their potential till season three. In the fourth edition of the IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders had come really close to the cup. But, they lost last year too.
This year, I was again supporting Kolkata Knight Riders. It was tough backing Kolkata Knight Riders after the two consecutive losses which they suffered right in the beginning of the tournament. But, I knew, that it is about supporting through thick and thin.
I supported Kolkata Knight Riders and defended it against all the people jealous of their success. When KKR made it into the finals, I was on cloud nine.
Chennai Super Kings played really well during the finals. They put up a mighty 190 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders had to make 191 to win this year's title.
They started out by losing Gautam Gambhir's wicket. My heart stopped beating when he was bowled out. I felt the tears in my eyes. But, I had to keep control. I had to keep my patience.
Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis together led us to the victory. Bisla played a wonderful knock and Kallis supported him really well.
It all came down to the last over. It was Manoj Tiwary on the crease. He hit two consecutive boundaries to lead the team to their maiden IPL victory!

I was in tears. I was delighted and really very happy. It was the World Cup feeling yet again.

And in the end when Brett Lee lifted Shahrukh Khan, I was just so happy.. They clinged on to each other for so many minutes..!!

And now as the fifth edition of the IPL is coming to an end I would like to thank Kolkata Knight Riders for bringing home the cup! Thank you Gautam Gambhir for leading KKR like an able captain..!!
I would really miss everyone. And I really hope that I get to see them soon during the Champions League T20!
Congratulations!!!

Brett Lee

I don't usually write about people. But, today I have a strong urge to write about a person that I admire a lot. He is admired not just by me alone, but also by millions and millions of people around the world. I am talking about the fast-bowler, singer and above all the best smiling assassin - Brett Lee..

Q. When did I start liking him?
Ans: Well, I always knew about Brett Lee. But it was a moment during ICC World Cup 2011, when I actually started liking him. India were already winning the match against Australia when the ball was sent towards the boundary. Being the athletic fielder he is, Brett Lee dived to stop the ball. However, he injured himself just above the right eyebrow. Blood started oozing out. It looked really painful. I was so amazed at how he tried to stop the ball even though he knew that India was already winning. What amused me further was that he returned back to the field after dressing up his injury. That was when I started admiring him.

I was really happy when he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders. I used to watch him bowl and field passionately.

One of my best friends and I keep talking about Brett Lee, his bowling, his fielding and of course his really cute smile.

During this year's IPL, whenever the cameras focused on Brett Lee, my eyes stopped blinking and I kept watching. When he flew down to Bhubaneswar for a match against the Deccan Chargers, I went to see him at his hotel. I was unable to see him. I saw the players of Deccan Chargers and I was quite happy. But, I really wanted to see Brett Lee. I saw him, though from a distance, the next day. The way he ran across the ground after the ball, made me jump! I was just so very pleased! Although I would like my presence at the match to take the credit of his exceptional performance that day, I won't. ;)

When this year's IPL ends, I am really going to miss seeing him every other day on television.

I wish that one day I really get to meet him! Now, I am not on twitter, but if you are, please send this page's link to brett's official twitter account.. ;)

Brett Lee, I hope one day you get to read this post. We all are big fans of you. I wish you all the best for your career ahead and please continue to entertain us with your bowling, fielding and of course singing! And the most important thing - keep smiling :)

Good thoughts...

I came across two wonderful thoughts today and I wanted to share it with all you guys..
1. "Somewhere, something wonderful is waiting to be known."

2. "Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood." - Marie Curie

I found them to be really nice and motivating thoughts...

Indoor summer get-together ideas

The summer vacations have begun. The temperatures are soaring. You are getting bored and missing your friends. If you are in such a situation, you need a get-together!
Summers are undoubtedly the best time to have fun. Some of you are living in parts of the world where at this time of the year, its really hot outside. What you can do is have a get-together with your friends while staying indoors. It may sound boring, but its really fun.
There is so much to do.
I would like to share some of my own ideas for an indoor summer get-together...

1. Movie
What is better than enjoying a movie with your friends along with popcorn and drinks?
You can watch any movie. Comedy, love story, action, drama or a horror movie! There are so many choices. But, if your group does not have similar choices, you would have to consider other options!

2. Board games
This is a good idea. Now, board games may sound boring. But, it is great fun to play one with a bunch of friends. There are lots of board games to play. You have Pictionary, Business, Monopoly, Life, Mindspace, Scrabble, Clue, Guess and so much more. Its an entertaining and fun-filled way of passing time.

3. Shooting
Well this is something that my friends and I do everytime we meet for a get-together. We shoot videos! You could shoot a skit or a funny video. Everyone gets to play a part and the shy ones can remain behind the camera. After the get-together, you can share the videos on social - networking sites! If you don't want to shoot videos, you can have a photo session. All of you could make funny poses!

4. Competitions
You can conduct competitions among yourselves. Drawing, singing, dancing or any other competition that you can think of! One of you can act as the judge. It is a really interesting thing to do!

5. Cooking
If you and your friends love cooking and you have a large kitchen, all of you could spend your time cooking. You could work as a team or as individuals. All of your dishes can be eaten away later! What else can be as fun as cooking your time away!!

6. Decorating
But, what if all don't have an interest in cooking?
Grab some cupcakes, butter, icing sugar and other materials required for frosting and hand them over to each of your friends. You can frost your cupcakes. You can surf over the internet for ideas and after decorating your cupcakes, you can EAT them!!
Interesting, isn't it?

Those were my ideas of a good indoor summer get-together... If you have any ideas please share with me through comments. I will really like reading your ideas. Enjoy the summers!!

The Hunger Games..

I probably am late to recommend but you should definitely read the Hunger Games series if you are a fiction lover. I just completed the series today. Each book has been beautifully written, perfectly paced. The story line is gripping and each page unfolds a new secret.
Fiction is definitely not close to reality but the emotions of the characters are. A lot of people say that fictional stories are just a way to kill time. But, I have different views. I feel these stories teach us a lot by their own sweet ways..
So, I recommend that you should read these wonderful three books written by Suzanne Collins. The trilogy consists of The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay...

The small circle

People surround you. All kinds of them. There are the sugary sweet ones, the sarcastic ones, the critical, the highly-appreciating and many more. No one is the same entirely. All have a different nature altogether. All play a role too, in their own way. I have had different experiences with different people. My experiences have also been of different kinds. There have been people having similar thoughts as mine, similar opinions of things. Then there have been people who share not a similar interest. Most of the time I end up fighting with these people on the topics we have differing views. But, among all other humans, their is a small group of them - who are closer to you than anything or anyone else. This small group consists of people whom we call family or friends. These people are special. They may not have entirely the same similar thoughts like yours. They may totally differing thoughts. But, we still trust them beyond everything. We still love them beyond everything. if someone asks me to write down the names of the people that hold this special place, it would be easy to some extent. After writing down a few names I would perhaps stop. I would think that who else owns the same place. But, then I would realise that its difficult to choose. That I don't have the right to choose. These people made their way through without me having the need to choose them. That's what makes them special - more special than all others.
And when they hurt you - its shattering. We feel as if they caused pain to us. We feel as if they don't trust us. Maybe that's not really the right feeling. Maybe we should try and take the situation from their perspective. That's not an easy thing to do and maybe in all the anger one would not be able to do it. What can we do then?
Just sit back and let anger take the better of our mind and heart. That's easy. But, isn't it meant to be easy?Aren't the wrong paths always meant to be easy and as soft as bed of roses? At one point I do think that I should do the same when I am thrown into a similar situation. But, maybe, its wrong to act so. You need to channel your emotions so that it harms no one, not even you.
Talking to the other person might just be the best option. But, its risky and may not even be successful. The other person might be angry, just like you. But, you've got to take chances. It takes time, maybe a lot of time. But, it finally does succeed.
The results are better than plan A(sitting and letting the anger get the better of you). The other is difficult but its the right path. And who said, its going to be easy? But, you know and I know that the results will be worth all the time and patience and wait.
