There is a unique similarity between humans and food. Some people are sweet, some tangy, some bitter and some a mix of all the flavours. Its only when all the flavours are put together, that we get a delicious and sumptuous meal(or a happy life).
I have a sweet tooth. I generally love anything and everything that is sweet. I love baking. Making desserts is what I really like to do.
I had been thinking of baking something new for a long time. I finally decided to bake a marble cake. Let me tell that I love marble cakes. The old combination of vanilla and chocolate is enough to knock anyone's socks off!
Its a dessert that makes me feel that magic exists. The way the chocolate batter spooned on top of the vanilla  batter goes all the way down to create shapes, is just magical.
I enjoyed baking it and I would like to share with you the recipe.
P.S - The pictures have been taken by my mobile. They may not look very mouth-watering. That is the reason I am also adding pictures of marble cakes made by others..

Marble Cake Recipe

Serves : 4

Ingredients :
3/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1/3 sugar
4 tbsp butter or oil
1 large egg
1/3 cup milk
3/4 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp cocoa powder

Method :
1. Mix oil and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.
2. Add an egg to it and beat well for two minutes.
3. Add flour and baking powder and mix well.
4. Add the milk and then mix the batter thoroughly.
5. Reserve 3/4 cup of the batter or more(it depends on how much chocolate you want).
6. Add cocoa powder to the reserved batter and mix well.
7. Pour the vanilla batter into a buttered baking dish.
8. Then add the chocolate batter with a spoon on top of the vanilla batter.
9. Take a knife and make swirls in the batter so that the chocolate batter can reach the bottom too.
10. Finally bake it in a microwave for 30 minutes at 180W.

**This recipe is for a microwave.
I hope you have enjoyed baking and eating this wonderful marble cake!
Thanks!!

The Rain In Pictures...

I am just so very impressed with the pictures of rain that I have come across lately. I have decided to add a splash some colour on my blog and to share the wonderful photographs of rain from across the world! I love looking at beautifully taken photographs. I just hope that I too someday can own that skill...

This picture really appeals to me. I am sure that eight in ten people can relate to this. Don't we all stretch out our hands?

The abandoned umbrella... When its pouring outside, who would want an umbrella? I say, no one! Not unless you have books to protect ;)

Have a look at this one. It looks as if pearls are falling on the ground. Beautiful!

I've already shared this in my previous post.
Paper boats are inevitable during monsoons. Every child likes to make them and watch them sail away.

Don't we all love to write on windows and glasses?

Monsoons are so much more than these pictures.
I have shared a few pictures which truly describe the rains to me.
But, the real fun is only outside..!!

Monsoons

The monsoons have arrived in many parts of the world. Unlike summer or winter, monsoon brings with it freshness! After the burning summer, the monsoon comes as a relief to us. I truly enjoy this season. Getting wet, jumping on puddles, making paper boats and watching them sail away, feeling the water inside my shoe and of course the smell of rain - I love all of these.

Its always amazing to see how the colour of the sky changes from blue to dark gray. And before you know it, its pouring cats and dogs.
I love it when the rain drops fall on my face and the cool breeze sweeps me away.
I don't like it when its drizzling though. For me the definition of rain is downpour, lightning, thundering! That sounds a bit too much. But, I seriously enjoy when its raining hard!
I love pictures of the monsoons too. They look magical. I am this attached to monsoons because my birthday falls in the rainy month of July! And almost every year, it rains on my birthday!
I love getting wet. I am sure that many of you like it too!
So if you hear thundering outside, rush out of your door and soak in all the fun that monsoons have to offer (make sure you don't get ill)!!

Life and all that therein is!

Some of you might have thought that I have deviated from this blog's concept. I've written a lot about cricket, Brett Lee, Kolkata Knight Riders and IPL in the past few days. I don't think that I have deviated from what the blog's concept is because this blog's concept still remains the same - Life and all that therein is.
If I write about life and not mention these things which mean to me a lot, I won't be fair. I am not a part of Kolkata Knight Riders, I don't play in it. I don't even own it. I had no contribution in its win. But, when KKR lifted the cup, I was on cloud nine.
All of you have experienced this. You can't deny that when your favourite tennis player won, you jumped on your bed or when your political role-model was elected you felt as if you have been elected!

This is life. One should have things like these to look forward to. You'll ask why? Why should we be bothered about the achievements of people whom we haven't even met? My answer - Because this is the essence of LIFE!
